Employment Agent: Working Beyond Challenges

The duty of an employment agent is to look for jobs for people. However, it is not as plain as the way it is defined. Not many people are aware of how hard it is to be an agent.

Listed are the working obligations of an employment agent:

Getting To Know The Applicant

When an applicant turns to the employment agent to ask about available jobs, the agent provides him an extensive questionnaire to complete. The agent will take a peek on the application and then start an interview with the applicant.

During the interview, the employment agent asks the applicant regarding the specific job he’s searching for, his skills, weaknesses and strengths, and his expected amount of compensation. The consultant keeps a record of the jobseeker’s personality and working skills to be able to market him to prospective employers.

The Employment Agent Being a Salesperson Too

After the interview, the agent’s duty becomes even tougher. He calls up possible employers to check out job openings that match with what the jobseeker is seeking. On this part, his job is always to “sell” the applicant to the companies. The agent must not just make an attempt to sell the applicant; the company must “buy” the applicant at the same time. Surely, this isn’t an easy job to do.

When the prospective employer becomes keen to do a job interview with the jobseeker, the agent calls him up to advise him about everything he needs to know or do. The agent must give some ideas to the jobseeker regarding the dress code, the best things to say, the right attitude to have, and stuff like that. He instructs the jobseeker well, so that he may make a good impression to the company.

The Toughest Part Of Being An Employment Agent

Having the applicant invited for a job interview does not guarantee that the prospective employer will hire him. A formal job offer should first be given to the applicant and the applicant should accept it as well. When this happens, the agent then gets his commission.

This shows that it is really not easy to work as an employment agent. Most of them are working on a commission basis and consequently, they can either earn a large amount of money for carrying out all their tasks, or starve for all their unproductive efforts of finding ideal jobs for jobseekers.

A General Thought About Being An Employment Agent

Not anyone can work well as an employment agent. An aspiring agent has to have exceptional interpersonal communication abilities and lots of patience. Becoming successful in this career will be based on having these two main characteristics. Those who don’t have it will certainly not make it.
