Well, it always depends on the accident. The Health and Safety Executive, or HSE, in the UK was put in place to protect employees by setting regulations for the workplace. A further 246000 non-fatal accidents occurred at work in addition to that. No official figures exist for typical compensation sums for workplace accidents, largely because out of court settlements are common and often remain private.
Also, the fact cannot be overlooked that employees are not always responsible for the accidents. However, a compensation plan is extended due to the fact that the employee lost his life. This benefits the family in a way that even after the demise; they would be able to make the claim, in order to compensate for the accident the employee was a part of.
