Understanding How Book Clubs Work
Book clubs are subscription programs, in which you receive a book each month by mail. The editor of the book club selects a book each month that they feel their subscribers would really enjoy. You can then usually choose to accept their choice, or opt out of the book choice for that month.
If you are an avid reader, you might consider joining a book club. If you are looking to buy a gift for someone, you might think about giving them a book club membership. Literally, there are book clubs for just about every interest. You can find clubs that focus on books about politics, history, romance, or even books for kids.
A benefit of joining a book club is that you can save a lot of time due to the fact that you don’t have to visit a store or mall to look for books that interest you. The editors at the book club pre-select books that they feel are worth reading, which are often times award winning books.
Typically, you can opt out of receiving the book if it doesn’t interest you. Just make sure that you opt out of the book before the club’s deadline.
When you join, you will typically get a very good promotional deal on books. Book clubs usually also offer book reviews and keep you up to date on the latest releases.
The downside of joining a book club is the cost associated with shipping the book. Additionally, you might also end up with books you don’t want of need if you forget to opt out of their monthly selection.
Additionally, most book clubs have a minimum number of books that you must buy the first two years. Be sure to check what the membership requirements are before you join.
Overall, a book lover will enjoy being a member of a book club. You just have to ensure that you only buy books that you need and will read.
