Disaster Recovery – Remote Backup Is The Answer
When you own or run a business, ‘business continuity’ and ‘disaster recovery’ are two major factors that could damage the running of a technology reliant organisation. Online Backup could be the key to ensuring your business runs smoothly
A business can be prone to disruption from a variety of sources in today’s world. This could be in the form of unforeseen economic downturns and less likely occurrences to avoid like man-made disasters or system malfunctions. A company’s ability to cope with such disruptions is likely to affect their future businesses successes.
Business Continuity is a term that refer to a business’s ability to cope and continue through difficult times caused by man-made disasters, natural disasters and system malfunctions.
A disaster recovery plan would prevent both natural and man-made disasters such as earthquake, fire, hackers, accidents, user errors and burglary. Data loss and system downtime could be caused by such incidents if a disaster recovery plan was not in place.
There are three methods of data backup. 1) Manual backup on CDs and DVDs that are mostly kept onsite; 2) Free internet backup software normally available free for blogs; 3) Offsite 3rd party backup companies for the larger client.
Surge protectors can be a sound investment for a business wanting to ensure damage is minimised in case of a sudden and unexpected power surge through the office’s power points.
Other ways to prevent data loss is to ensure that all computer equipment are fitted with functioning cooling mechanisms like fans as overheating is a major cause of computer crashes.
Also it is good to have anti virus protection to protect both computers and servers.
Data that is lost from your company permanently could severely affect the running of your business. A recovery plan in place could save your company in a period of uncertainty. However it would be a cost that you would like never to see tested.
